History
Heal’s has a rich heritage, starting as a feather-dressing business before evolving into a comprehensive home furnishings store. Over the decades, Heal’s has been at the forefront of introducing new styles and innovations in furniture design, often showcasing the work of leading designers.
The Building
The store moved to its current location in 1840, and later, in 1916, the original building was demolished. In its place, Cecil Brewer designed a new store, including the Spiral Cecil Brewer staircase, which is pegged as the most photographed staircase in London. The building was further extended in 1937 and has continued evolving since including a new extension in 2023.
