The market
The Brick Lane Vintage Market runs in a basement at 85 Brick Lane, below the main strip, and is given over entirely to vintage clothing. Dozens of independent traders sell across decades and price points: 1950s dresses, 1970s leather, 1980s sportswear, band tees, denim and workwear, with menswear and womenswear both well covered. Designer pieces from the likes of Burberry turn up on rails alongside items at a few pounds.
Visiting
The market is open seven days a week, roughly 11am to 6.30pm on weekdays and from 10am on Sundays. Weekends are busiest, and Sunday is when the surrounding Brick Lane markets are all in full swing. Come with time to dig as there's plenty to see and the place is a bit of a maze. Stock turns over constantly and the best finds reward patience rather than a quick look.
