Pimlico Road is a street in Belgravia, close to Sloane Square and King’s Road in Chelsea. The street is home to around 30–40 interior design and lifestyle showrooms, specialising in furniture, lighting, textiles and 20th-century design.
Unlike many of London’s busier shopping streets, Pimlico Road has a calm and understated atmosphere. It is particularly known for high-quality craftsmanship, classic British design and curated showroom spaces rather than traditional retail chains.
Belgravia Architecture and the Development of Pimlico Road
Pimlico Road is lined with elegant white stucco townhouses typical of Belgravia. Most of the buildings date back to the 19th century and were originally designed as private residences. Today, many former ground-floor apartments and living spaces have been converted into showrooms and boutiques.
The character of Belgravia has played an important role in shaping Pimlico Road’s identity. The residential scale of the buildings and street-level access made the area particularly suitable for interior design studios. As more design-led businesses moved in, the street gradually evolved into a recognised design destination within central London.
Pimlico Road as Part of Belgravia’s Design District
Showrooms are located along both sides of the street within easy walking distance of one another, creating a compact design hub.
Approaching from Sloane Square, you’ll find Jamb, known for classical fireplaces and mirrors inspired by historical architectural forms.
Nearby is the Nina Campbell store, specialising in furniture, wallpaper and textiles featuring patterned fabrics and bold colour palettes. Next to Nina Campbell is the entrance to Newson’s Yard, a courtyard housing several design and architecture studios. Within Newson’s Yard, you’ll also find Nordic Modernity, which focuses on 20th-century Scandinavian furniture and design and other showrooms.
On the opposite side of the street, Cox London produces handcrafted lighting and metalwork using traditional techniques and patinated finishes.
Also located here is LINLEY, whose collections include fine furniture and interior objects crafted from noble woods.
Daylesford Organic and Pimlico Road Farmers Market
Near Cox London, you’ll find Daylesford Organic, which combines a restaurant and farm shop with a variety of produce. The restaurant is open daily, serving breakfast, lunch and coffee. A traditional English breakfast is a popular choice, alongside seasonal dishes. The shop also offers kitchenware and home accessories.
Every Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Pimlico Road hosts the Pimlico Road Farmers Market at Orange Square. Stalls sell fresh vegetables, bread and cheeses. In the centre of the square stands a statue of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who lived in a nearby building for about a year when he was eight.
Within walking distance is Elizabeth Street, a popular and picturesque street in Belgravia. Here you’ll find the British homeware brand Summerill & Bishop, specialising in table settings and textiles, as well as the pink-fronted café Peggy Porschen.
