Belgravia is an affluent neighbourhood in the London borough of Westminster. It is a mainly residential area, with a few offices, shops and restaurants. It is one of the most exclusive areas in London with many residential squares hosting large terraced houses. The name Belgravia comes from one of the Duke of Westminster’s subsidiary titles, Viscount Belgrave.
Some of the streets are often featured on social media, Elizabeth Street, with its cafes like Peggy Porschen and shops such as Philip Treacy hats (worn by Lagy Gaga, Madonna and Beyoncé) or Jo Loves fragrances by Jo Malone. Another beautiful street is Motcomb Street with its charming boutiques including Christian Louboutin shoes and Rococo Chocolates. The latter not only offers delicacies but also hosts chocolate masterclasses and tasting sessions.
Belgravia is the home of several fancy hotels and embassies for numerous countries. There are seven historic squares with private gardens in the area. Eccleston Yards is a courtyard with restaurants, designer shops and wellness services; it’s a lovely place to spend an afternoon.
Pimlico Road Farmers’ Market on Saturdays is an excellent way to spend the morning and early afternoon in the market offering fresh food including meat, fish, bread and cheeses. About one minute away is Wild at Heart, a flower shop of Nikki Tibbles, one of the most celebrated British florists.
You don’t necessarily have to have a reason to visit Belgravia. It is sometimes enough just to walk around and enjoy the views.
