Sloane Square
Sloane Square is a great place of entry to Chelsea as it is a stop on the District/Circle tube lines. The square is surrounded by posh shops and you’ll find the Venus Fountain in the centre of it.
Sloane Street starts from Sloane Square and goes north towards Knightsbridge and also has a plethora of shops along the way.
Cadogan Hall is a concert hall with concerts in a wide range of different music styles a short walk from Sloane Square.
King’s Road
To the west from Sloane Square is King’s Road, which can be considered the main street of Chelsea, goes all the way to Fulham. It is associated with 1960’s style and nowadays contains some 300 shops.
The first thing you’ll see along King’s Road on the south side is Duke of York Square with a selection of over 30 shops and several restaurants. Some of our favourites include Manicomio located in an open area next to the shops with a lovely al fresco dining area and Vardo, which is located in the middle of the square in a magnificent round building. There’s also a little terrace on top of the restaurant that provides a good view over the square. The Fine Food Market is a food market that is held on the square on Saturdays.
Still next to the square, you’ll find Saatchi Gallery with contemporary art exhibitions.
Walking along the King’s Road, there are several other places of interest. One of the most popular restaurants is the Ivy Chelsea Garden, with its floral decorations also offering al fresco dining in the lovely garden area.
Further along the street there is Peggy Porschen, an Instagrammer favourite with its pink exteriors and floral decorations. Next to Peggy Porschen is My Old Dutch offering traditional sweet or savoury Dutch pancakes.
Some other places to mention along the King’s Road are Limelight Movie Art with great selection of original film posters and Designers Guild, a home and lifestyle store.
Closer to the Thames, on Royal Hospital Road, you can find Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, a three Michelin star restaurant with an intimate ambience. Chelsea Physic Garden, established 1673, is a small botanical garden along the same road (entry via Swan Walk). Continuing further on Royal Hospital Road takes you to Cheyne Walk, a short street with lovely Chelsea houses almost next to the Thames.
Chelsea Embankment
Chelsea Embankment is a great place to walk or to run along the Thames and especially the section between Albert Bridge and Battersea Bridge offer great views. Also the Albert Bridge is beautifully lit in the evenings and is an easy way to get to Battersea Park on the other side of the Thames.
Chelsea Flower Show
Not a place as such but Chelsea Flower Show is an annual event hosted in Chelsea dubbed as the greatest flower show in the world with beautiful garden designs and gorgeous floral displays. While Chelsea Flower show is a ticketed event, Chelsea in Bloom is another annual event that is free where many of the businesses in Chelsea are decorated with flower installations.
Sloane Avenue
Sloane Avenue to the north has interior design stores such as The Conran Shop, Jonathan Adler and Andrew Martin. In the iconic Michelin House building next to the Conran Shop is the Claude Bosi at Bibendum, a two Michelin-star restaurant.
