The shop
Forbidden Planet's London Megastore is the UK's largest science-fiction, fantasy and comics retailer, and has occupied 179 Shaftesbury Avenue since September 2003. The basement holds the books: more than 25,000 graphic novels, comics, manga, and science-fiction and fantasy titles, including signed and shop-exclusive editions that are hard to find elsewhere.
What else to expect
The ground floor is given over to merchandise such as action figures, statues, T-shirts, models, replicas and gaming accessories spanning Star Wars, Doctor Who, Marvel, DC and anime. Author and artist signings are held regularly and are worth checking before a visit. The shop is a two-minute walk from Tottenham Court Road station and open seven days a week.
