The theatre
Wyndham's seats 759 and the Louis XVI-style auditorium is among the prettiest in the West End, with the original plasterwork and painted panels still in place. The size keeps it intimate, and it tends to attract contemporary plays with recognisable casts rather than long-running musicals.
History
Charles Wyndham was an actor-manager of some standing, and it took years of asking before the Marquess of Salisbury granted him the land. Sprague designed the building around 1898 and it opened on 16 November 1899 with the Prince of Wales in attendance. Wyndham built the Criterion before it and the New Theatre, now the Noël Coward directly behind it.

Leicester Square station is a minute away. The theatre backs onto St Martin's Lane, so it is easy to combine with dinner in the streets around Covent Garden.
