The restaurant

The Real Greek on Long Acre serves Greek food built around meze: small plates meant for sharing, from hummus and taramasalata to grilled souvlaki, lamb meatballs and filo pastries. The vegetarian and vegan spread is unusually good for a Greek menu, and the lunch offer is among the better value options in Covent Garden.

History

Theodore Kyriakou opened the first Real Greek in Hoxton in 1999, aiming to show London Greek cooking beyond moussaka and taramasalata. It won Best New London Restaurant and grew into a small group; the Covent Garden branch followed in 2006.

Good to know

Long Acre puts it a couple of minutes from Covent Garden station and within easy reach of the theatres. The kitchen runs to 10pm on weeknights and 11pm at weekends, so it works for a meal after a show as well as before one. Booking is a good idea during weekends.
